Tapahtuman tiedot
The workshop offers an experiential way to explore the invisible life of the soil and helps participants develop a deeper understanding of soil ecosystems.
Participants will work with safe microorganisms and natural materials. Through simple experiments, they will observe how microbes leave visible traces on coloured growth media and create Winogradsky columns that reveal the layered microbial communities and living processes of the soil over time. Participants are also welcome to bring their own soil sample, connecting the workshop to personal environments and memories.
Rather than focusing on a finished outcome, the workshop emphasizes the process itself: observing, following change over time, and reflecting together. Throughout the day, discussions and guided reflection invite participants to consider questions such as: What traces do we leave in the environment? What traces do microbes leave in us? And what kinds of memories and marks do we pass on to future generations?
The workshop is suitable for participants of all ages and requires no prior knowledge. By combining art, science, and environmental inquiry, it makes the living processes of the soil visible, tangible, and shareable.
The workshop takes place throughout the day from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Participation is possible in both Finnish and English.
