Haihatus Art Center in Joutsa invites artists, art students and other creative professionals to apply for the residency for the period 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027. Haihatus is an international and relaxed working residency located in three locally significant historical buildings near the centre of Joutsa. The peaceful rural surroundings are combined with services within walking distance. Haihatus can be reached from Helsinki in just over two hours by car, and Jyväskylä is less than an hour away. The residency is open to individuals, pairs and working groups.
Haihatus offers a calm environment for focused work and the development of creative processes. The residency is suitable for artists, writers, scriptwriters, producers and other creative professionals. The working spaces and the presence of other residents create opportunities for both independent work and spontaneous collaboration. The residency encourages deepening ideas and process oriented work without pressure or predefined expectations.
The residency operates from 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027. Individual residency periods range from two weeks to three months, and shorter stays can also be arranged if needed. Please inquire about shorter periods by email.

A confirmation fee is required only from accepted applicants to secure the residency period:
100 euros for one person
200 euros for two people
There are no obligations regarding outcomes or completed works during the residency. Artists are free to focus on their own process without pressure to organise exhibitions, performances or workshops.
