Applying for facilities and dates for an exhibition
The exhibition space is at the purple Haihatus house and on its surrounding yard. The house is a former mental hospital department of Joutsa. Since 2002 it has been in contemporary art exhibition use by Art Center Haihatus.
Artists, artist groups and organisations can apply for own exhibition in Haihatus with an informal application by email haihatus(at)haihatus.fi. The rented exhibition period is one calendar month including the construction and dismantling time.
The gallery facilities are located in Haihatus house and its yard. Downstairs, there is 208m2 with white walls separated into 13 different rooms, including one all-black room for videos etc. There is also rougher, unheated 200m2 attic. The rooms are divided according to the colour of the floor. Blue end of the house is 108m2 and the red is 92m2. The attic space is possible to divide into smaller sections.
The yard, garden and field altogether cover around 1,5 hectares and different outbuildings (Commentator tower, Shed, Yellow container and a fiberglass tank Bowl). Haihatus is most well-known of its annual summer exhibition since 2000.
Residency artists group exhibitions are held at Haihatus house once or twice a year.
Exhibition fee
The fees include exhibition surveillance Wed-Sat 12-17, marketing and advertising. The fee does not include insurances, hanging, deconstruction, transportation, opening serving, printed materials, or mailing.
Haihatus does not charge sales commission.
